Louis Cournoyer is a Full Professor and Director of Academic Programs in Career Development and Career Counseling at the Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada). He is also a guidance counselor and a member of the Ordre des conseillers et des conseillères d’orientation du Québec (Guidance and Vocational Counselors College).

His research focuses on the analysis of life-course experiences and of the resources developed and mobilized through them, as well as on their impact on the design and implementation of personal projects in relation to personal and professional adaptive and developmental needs.

His work also examines how contextual forces and adjustment strategies may either support or hinder decision-making processes and action. His teaching focuses on theories of career development and career counseling, clinical practice and supervision in career counseling, as well as career-related mental health issues.
